Peru – Inca Trail

This previous itinerary was designed for: 2 people; 5* star hotel accommodations (except for tents along Inca trail); with an interest in food, hiking the Inca Trail, and exploring local culture (through museums, markets, small towns).
This trip includes:
- All hotel accommodations (6 nights 5* star hotel and 3 nights in tents on the Inca Trail)
- Transportation to and from airports
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included only with the days on the Inca Trail; Dinner reservations
- 4 flights: DFW – Lima, Lima – Cusco, Cusco – Lima, Lima – DFW
- Inca Trail Hike: Tour Group Service, Entrance fee to Inca Trail and Machu Picchu, sleeping bags, tents (1 day in Machu Picchu; with extra porters included, up to 15 pounds of your personal belongings)
- Day tours and classes
- A list of suggestions for unscheduled time
- A recommended list of items to bring with you for the Inca Trail
Day 1:
- Arrive in Lima at 11:55 pm.
- Your driver will greet you at the airport arrivals terminal; Check into Miraflores Park Hotel.
Day 2:
- Your private tour guide will pick you up at 10:00 am from your hotel to explore a historic district, Pueblo Libre. Here, you will explore the private Larco Museum and gardens housed in an 18th century colonial mansion with 45,000 pieces of pre-Columbian art dating back 4,000 years. Your tour guide will take you back to your hotel in Miraflores (Tour 3 hours, lunch included).

- Dinner reservations at Central Restaurante in Miraflores at 8:00 pm.
Day 3:
- Your driver will pick you up from your hotel at 11:00 am to take you to the airport for a flight to Cusco. Your driver will greet you at the airport arrivals terminal; Check into Hotel Monasterio in Cusco.
- From a list of suggestions provided for unscheduled time this couple decided to relax and acclimatize at the hotel with lunch at Le Soleil.
- Dinner reservations at 7:00 pm at MAP Café at Museo de Arte Precolombino (across the street from the hotel). Enjoy the museum until 10:00 pm.
Day 4:
- Your private driver will pick you up from your hotel at 8:00 am for a day trip to a Peruvian village in the Sacred Valley, Pisac, to see Incan ruins and explore the local market. (Duration is your choice)
- Peruvian cooking class at Hotel Monasterio at 3:00 pm.
- Pre-trek briefing at 7:00 pm at Tour Group Office (map and address included) to meet your trail guide and get your bags to put personal belongings in for the porters to carry along the Inca Trail (up to 15 pounds). Leave belongings with the front desk of the hotel in the morning and only pack what you will need for the trail. *You may pay extra money for additional bags for porters to carry or tips for porters, guides and cooks.
Day 5:
- Inca Trail – Start of the Inca Trail Adventure! The first day is easy and flat. You will walk for 12 km (5-6 hours).
- You will be picked up from your hotel at 4:30 am and take only the bags provided from the Tour Group and what you are going to carry, leave the rest of your luggage with your hotel front desk for when you return.
- A bus will take you to Piskacucho where the trail starts. There will be a stop in Ollataytambo at 6:30 am for breakfast (not included). Arrive at 8:30 am to use restrooms, put on sunscreen, and organize belongings.
- Walk across the Vilcanota River to start the trail. You will see an Inca Fortress, Huillca Raccay, and an Inca site, Llactapata, and stop for lunch (provided).
- Tents, sleeping bags, and dinner set up for when you arrive at the campsite.
Day 6:
- Inca Trail – Day two! You will walk for 16 km over 2 passes (8-9 hours).
- Wake up at 6:00 am and have breakfast before you start the hike toward Dead Woman’s Pass at 13,779 ft. Take a rest and pictures at the top before a decent to lunch at Pacaymayu.
- Climb Runkuraqay Pass and arrive at the campsite at 5:00 pm.
- Tents, sleeping bags, and dinner set up for when you arrive at the campsite.
Day 7:
- Inca Trail – Day three! You will walk for 10 km (4-5 hours).
- Wake up at 6:00 am and have breakfast before you visit Phuyupatamarca and Intipatata.
- You will arrive at camp by lunchtime and will be able to visit Winay Wayna Inca site within walking distance of the campsite.
- Tents, sleeping bags, and dinner will be set up for when you arrive at the campsite.
Day 8:
- Inca Trail to Machu Piccu. The last day you will walk 5 km (2-3 hours).
- Wake up at 3:30 am to arrive at Inti Punku (Sun Gate) before sunrise.
- You will walk into Machu Picchu with a 2 hour tour with your guide.
- Free time to explore Machu Picchu on your own.
- Take the free bus at the entrance or walk into Aguas Calientes and check into Inkaterra Machu Picchu Pueblo Hotel (map/address included).
- From a list of suggestions provided for unscheduled time this couple decided to enjoy the afternoon relaxing at the hotel in Aguas Calientes.
Day 9:
- Unscheduled day until you take the train back to Cusco at 4:00 pm.
- From a list of suggestions provided for unscheduled time this couple decided to walk back into Machu Picchu and hike up Huayna Picchu (about 45 minute hike) and spend the day exploring.
- Take the train to Ollantaytambo at 4:00 pm (train station within walking distance in town – see map for directions) From Ollantaytambo, a bus will take you to your hotel in Cusco.
Day 10:
- Your driver will pick you up from Hotel Monasterio in Cusco at 11:30 am for your flight to Lima. Connect to your flight back home this evening.
