FIJI

You will not be able to leave Fiji without a smile, maybe too much kava or maybe because the hundreds of insanely beautiful islands are full of friendly villagers who shout “Bula!” (a greeting) and make sure you love their country as much as they do.

Fiji is made up of 322 islands, and only a third of them are inhabited. There are a lot of beaches and jungles to explore! You can walk through the jungle and explore the Garden of the Sleeping Giant to see thousands of colorful orchids. You can take a helicopter over the South Pacific islands and even fly over the island of Monuriki, where the movie Castaway was filmed! Another great way to explore some of these islands is to take day trips or multi-day trips on small cruise boats around the islands. Do you want a romantic getaway? How about Turtle Island where only 14 couples stay at once, to enjoy the private beaches and bungalows (This is where Blue Lagoon was filmed!).

These islands are lush and the beaches are bright blue. There are over 100 dive sites around Fiji so Scuba diving and snorkeling are a must. Fiji is considered the “soft coral capital of the world,” as these waters are full of so much life!

If diving and snorkeling don’t convince you to visit, then how about a swim in an emerald pool of water from a waterfall 60 feet up in Bouma National Heritage Park, sipping a drink in a hut over the water at the Likuliku Lagoon Resort (considered one of the “World’s Greatest Escapes” in Island Magazine), or buying some pearls sourced right in Fiji at J. Hunter’s Pearl shop.
